One of my resolutions this year is to explore more of what’s on my door step. Whether it’s trying out a different route when I’m out running, or jumping on a bus or train to an area I haven’t explored, I’m making an effort to explore more of the amazing city I live in.
I recently visited Deptford for the day, one of London’s hidden gems! My sister had told me about it, so we met up for a look around. On Deptford High Street, we explored the flea market (loads of street food, vintage clothes, brick-a-brac, and cheap furniture).
There’s also a shop called Terry’s Discount that is occupied by friendly cats! Random I know, but I loved this! I say friendly, one of them actually bit my sister, haha. I’m sure it was just playing. Maybe it thought she was trying to steal some scourers!
I recommend a drink in The Job Centre if you are in the area! The perfect place to hang out ‘between jobs’.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, St Nicholas Church is definitely worth a look around.

At the top of the High Street you can continue on until you get to the Thames, and then there’s a nice walk down to Greenwich along the river.
Have you found any hidden gems in London or in your local area recently? Let me know in the comments!
